5 Upcoming stars of Indian cricket

Every year, IPL discovers talented young cricketers to the world. The popular T20 league has become an excellent platform for the young emerging players to learn and perform at a bigger stage. Not only do young Indian cricketers get a chance to showcase their in front of the world, but also several foreign players get golden opportunities to perform under the high-pressure situation.

It ultimately improves them as a player and helps them in getting a national call-up. This year was no different as players like Buttler were recalled to the national test team based on their performances in the IPL. Additionally, it also presented many exciting, young talents in front of the world.

This IPL, we have seen a lot of U19 players performing well for their teams. They looked confident and ready for big stages. They have shown some glimpses of what they can do in the near future at a bigger stage.

Although IPL gave them the platform, where they are recognized more, they already had made a name for themselves in the U19 world cup. Hence, their performances in the IPL was not a surprise for everyone.

Here are some young, exciting players, who have all the ingredients to become a star in the future of Indian cricket.


#1 Shubhman Gill

Shubhman Gill has a spark of a batsman who can become a great player in the future. He looks calm, composed and matured beyond his age. He is a technically sound batsman and likes keeping his batting very simple. It’s not just two or three of his sparkling innings in the IPL that made him an excellent prospect for the Indian cricket.

In fact, he had already announced himself in the recently concluded U19 world cup, with his brilliant batting throughout the tournament. He batted magnificently, scoring 372 runs at an average of 124, and won the Man of the Tournament award as well. He scored a scintillating hundred against arch-rival Pakistan in the semifinal of the U19 world cup.

The 18-year-old has already scored a century in his second Ranji trophy match for his home state, Punjab. And now seeing him in the IPL, smashing world class bowlers with confidence, it is evident that he indeed is on the right track to becoming the next batting Superstar. So, keep an eye on him, because five years later, we might be cheering for him while he demolishes other International teams.

#2 Prithvi Shaw

Prithvi Shaw is just 18 years old, but he has already made the world take notice of him. He has been in the talks for quite a time. He came into the limelight when he hit 546 runs in a Harris Shield elite division match and had set the highest score by any batsman in any organized form of cricket since 1901 (Later the record was broken by Pranav Dhanwade).

The right-handed batsman was the captain of India U19 team in the last world cup, which eventually India won. But it was his batting, which caught everyone's eye. He had batted superbly in the U19 world cup, giving India good starts at the top.

He has already scored 1000 runs in just ten first-class matches at an average of 56.22, scoring five centuries in the process. He recently showed the glimpses of his class in the IPL, when he opened the batting for DD.

The young gun scored a blistering half-century against KKR to give his team a comfortable victory. He has earned a lot of praises from some greats of the game during the IPL. He is a highly rated young talent, and we might see him in the blue in a very short time.

#3 Abhishek Sharma

A 17-year-old, young left-hander, came to the crease and surprised everyone when he hit two thundering sixes off Tim Southee in an IPL match against RCB. But you shouldn't be surprised if you have followed him closely. He is one of the most talented young player going around in the world right now.

He was a top performer in the world cup for India U19 in New Zealand. He is not only an exciting batsman, but he is also a proper left-arm spin bowler, too. He bowled a lot of overs with high accuracy in the U19 world cup.

In 2015-16 Vijay Merchant trophy, he had scored 1200 runs in 12 innings at an average of 112.33, and he also took 59 wickets at an average of 10. He made his Ranji debut, even before turning 17 and scored 94 runs in his first innings.

Due to his impressive all-around abilities, he is already being compared to Indian great Yuvraj Singh. Even though it seems too much of praise for the young gun, he has the capabilities to make it a reality. Don’t be surprised, if he makes it to the Indian team at a very young age. And why not, if you have the talent, age is no barrier in sports.

#4 Kamlesh Nagarkoti

India isn't known for fast bowlers, who can click the magical 150kph at will. But Kamlesh Nagarkoti, along with Shivam Mavi, can change that. They can bowl very fast and have got the accuracy as well. Kamlesh Nagarkoti, in particular, has very solid action and has the ability to reverse swing with deceptive pace.

He took the first-ever hat-trick for Rajasthan in List A cricket, in the Vijay Hazare Trophy against Gujrat. He might not have got a chance to showcase his skills in this year’s IPL due to an injury, but he had shown enough promises in the recently concluded U19 world cup in New Zealand.

He turned many heads by bowling quick and took nine wickets in the U19 world cup. If he is managed well and can keep himself fit, he might become a star fast bowler for India in the future.

#5 Rishabh Pant

Rishabh pant has constantly been knocking the door of the Indian team, and in this year's IPL, he has taken his batting to another level. He might not be a traditional class player, but he has shown some great hitting abilities. He has made a lot of runs at a high strike rate very consistently.

The power-hitting left-hander made 684 runs in the IPL this year. He also became the first ever player to make more than 600 runs for DD. He has already made debut for the Indian team in the shortest format of the game, and another national call-up might be around the corner. He, along with Samson and Kishan is the future wicket-keeping prospect for India.
